Missing person found safe and well in north Mayo

Volunteers of Ballyglass Coast Guard Search and Drone Unit were tasked this morning by MRSC Malin following a request from the Belmullet Gardaí to assist them in the search for a person reported missing.

A briefing was held in the Garda Station after which a detailed search of the town, starting at the person's last know sighting, took place

Rescue 118 was also tasked to assist.

With the use of their Flir (infrared camera) they also conduct a search of the area.

A Belmullet Coast Guard Unit spokesperson reported: "At approximately 8.30 a.m. we received a call informing us that the person was located safe and well.

"The teams were stood down and returned to base. Well done to all involved."

While on scene Rescue 118 was retasked to carry out a medical evacuation from Clare Island.

The casualty is wished a speedy recovery.
