Mayo manager Walsh continues to blood new players in NHL

The Mayo team for the round two Allianz NHL Division 2 game against London in McGovern Park, Ruislip, has been named.

Manager Derek Walsh continues to blood new players, with James Gallagher from Westport, Danny Hill from Ballyhaunis and Barry Lane from Castlebar Mitchels all making their league debuts.

There are also first starts for Ryan Butler from Mitchels and Shane Crinnegan from Tooreen, both of whom came on as substitutes last weekend against Wicklow. Mayo drew that opening NHL game against Wicklow on a scoreline of 2-15 apiece.

Keith Higgins is a notable absentee this weekend but All-Star defender David Kenny returns to man the centre of the Mayo defence. Bobby Douglas is named at full-back, with Daniel Huane now operating in the middle of the field.

Former Kilkenny underage player Paul Kirwan retains his place in the midfield, with Aaron Ketterick moving from full-forward to wing forward.

The team in full is: Barry Lane; Brian Hunt, Bobby Douglas, Conor Murray; Danny Hill, David Kenny, Mark Phillips; Paul Kirwan, Daniel Huane; Aaron Ketterick, Adrian Phillips, Shane Crinnegan; Shane Boland, Ryan Butler, James Gallagher.

On the substitutes' bench are: James Lowe, Patrick Lyons, Michael Gallagher, Jack Trench, Darren Murray, Brian Peoples, Alan Ferguson, Conal Hession, Kealon Gallagher, Matthew Walsh.
