Death of former Mayo junior tennis star is deeply regretted

The death has occurred of Conor MacHale, Hawthorn Avenue, Lightford, Castlebar.

He died unexpectedly at his residence in Cavan.

An engineer by profession, he is deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents Val and Esther, brother Niall, sister Aoife, fiancé Anne-Marie, brother-in-law Jonny (Sydney), aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

In a tribute, Castlebar Tennis Club said it was deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Conor and extended condolences to the MacHale family on their loss.

"Conor was one of the most talented players of his age in Ireland throughout his junior tennis career.

"He won national titles, represented Connacht and Ireland, but, more importantly, Conor had an incredible work ethic and was so much fun to be around."

He was the winner of the Irish Indoor Tennis Championships at under-16 level in 2004 and, four years earlier, won the National Matchplay Singles Under-12 title in Cork.

Reposing at his parents' residence in Hawthorn Avenue, Lightfort, Castlebar (F23 YX36), on Thursday evening from 4.30 to 6 p.m.

Removal on Friday morning at 10.45 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Cremation Ceremony takes place at 3.30 p.m. in Shannon Crematorium.
