Mayo truck driver fatally injured in Limerick crash

A Mayo truck driver was fatally injured in a road collision in County Limerick which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning.

At approximately 2.50 a.m. Friday a collision occurred between an articulated truck and a car.

The male driver and sole occupant of the truck was fatally injured.

He has been named as Arturs Birynieks, aged in his early 30s, of Latvia and Knock.

He is deeply regretted by his wife and two children, parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

The male driver and sole occupant of the car was removed to University Hospital Limerick with non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí in Rathkeale are continuing to investigate the accident.

The funeral arrangements have been announced for the deceased.

His remains will be reposing at Donnellan's Funeral Home, Clare Street, Ballyhaunis, on Saturday from 5 until 6.30 p.m.

Requiem Mass will take place at 12 noon on Sunday in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyhaunis, with a private cremation afterwards at Shannon Crematorium.
