Mast plan gets green light for west Mayo village

A proposal to erect a 30-metre monopole telecommunications support structure together with antennae, dishes and associated equipment at Knockroosky, Aghagower, Westport, has been approved by council planners.

The applicant was Vantage Towers Ltd.

Two observations were submitted, pointing out that a multi-operator structure is already in place in the area, which has capacity for additional equipment.

The need for a second telecoms site was questioned.

From information supplied, the council was satisfied the proposed development would improve coverage in the area for modern technology use and there was a justification for the infrastructure.

Visual impact was also assessed and it was found that the mast would not have a significant impact on the landscape.
