Warm tribute to much-loved young Mayo man on his passing
The death of Jason Corrigan, Park Road, Swinford, and formerly of Palmfield, Carracastle, and Parkview, Charlestown, has evoked an immense sense of loss and sadness.
Aged 30, he peacefully yesterday after a bravely fought long illness.
He is deeply regretted by his parents Patrick and Bernie, sister Lisa, brother's Michael and Patrick, partner Rachel and their daughter Myla, nieces, Mia, Emily, Anna, nephew Alex, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and work colleagues, to whom sympathy is tendered.
Warm tributes have been paid to him on social media since news of his passing was announced.
In a tribute on his Facebook page, Kenneth Gannon, a football friend of the deceased from Westport United, said Jason was a dedicated family man who was blessed with great kindness and goodness.
He told of Jason's deep passion for sport.
"Jason loved his sport, and especially football, when he would be tearing down the right wing for Charlestown Athletic and Ballaghaderreen F.C.
"Jason was an avid supporter of Manchester United and Sligo Rovers FC."
He added Jason remained positive and pragmatic throughout his illness, having being diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2018, after which the communities of Charlestown, Carracastle and Ballaghaderreen and Kilmovee rallied around him.
Jason will repose at the home of his parents in Palmfield, Carracastle, this evening (Saturday) from 4 until 8 p.m.
Removal on Sunday to St. James's Church, Charlestown, for Funeral Mass at 1 o’clock followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
