Mayo Manchester star helps launch The Last Busby Babe book

Mayo Manchester star Alan Keegan – aka 'The Voice of Old Trafford' at Manchester United Football Club – will host a special event to launch the book The Last Busby Babe.

As well as working for Manchester United, Alan is a founding member of the award-winning Mayo Manchester Tradfest, which will be visiting Mayo in May for a week-long festival to celebrate the inaugural Home to Mayo Festival from May 26 to 31.

The book is about the life of Manchester United legend and Northern Ireland star Sammy McIlroy, MBE. Alan will be quizzing Sammy about his autobiography and he will host the sporting evening which is a must for any United or Northern Ireland fan.

The audience will also be invited to ask questions at the event as well as purchase signed copies and pose for photos with the legend. Tickets cost £5 each and can be booked through Eventbrite here.

Speaking about the event, Alan said: “It promises to be a great evening for any sporting fan, but United and Northern Ireland fans will find it fascinating. Sammy has asked that the tickets are priced at just £5 to make it affordable to all of his fans. It has already had a great deal of interest and tickets must be purchased in advance to gain entry.”

The evening takes place next Wednesday, March 30, at Hotel Football in the Stadium Suite, 99 Sir Matt Busby Way, Old Trafford, Manchester, M16 0SZ. The suite will open for guests from 6 p.m., with the event itself starting from 7 p.m.

Spanning a footballing career of more than 40 years, hear Sammy talk about being Sir Matt Busby’s last signing for United, making his debut – and scoring – in a Manchester derby aged just 17, winning the FA Cup and playing in two World Cup finals, in addition to managing four different north-west clubs as well as the Northern Ireland international side.
