Plans for new postal sorting office in north Mayo town
AN Post is planning to invest in a new mail delivery service unit in north Mayo.
The mail delivery and sorting centre is proposed to be based in a disused commercial building on the Killala Road in Ballina that was previously used as a car showroom.
A planning application in respect of the property, which is currently abandoned, has been submitted to Mayo County Council.
It will be an amalgamation of a number of smaller postal sorting offices in the west and will serve 37 postal delivery routes, documentation submitted to the council explains.
In addition, the unit will offer a mail collection service, located in an 'ideal position' in a small retail/industrial park to the north of Ballina.
