Efforts to upgrade cancer care facilities in the west

Efforts are underway to provide a cancer care centre of excellence in the west of Ireland.

Professor Michael Kerin, director, Saolta NUIG Cancer Network, and Tommie Gorman, formerly of RTÉ, have outlined the need for the facility to Oireachtas members from the region.

Mayo TD Alan Dillon has confirmed his commitment to ensuring that cancer patients in the region get the best treatments and outcomes.

"The delivery of a world class centre is crucial to achieving this.

"At our briefing session, it was brilliant to see such passionate advocacy from Professor Kerin and Tommie Gorman," he stated.
