Mayo court grants eviction order for anti-social behaviour

An application by Mayo Council Council to evict a family from their home due to anti-social behaviour has been granted at Castlebar District Court.

Judge Marie Keane approved the order after hearing evidence from representatives of Mayo County Council and An Garda Siochana.

The family had their own legal representation at yesterday's hearing.

The case relates to a council-owned dwelling in an urban-based housing estate in the county.

The family has been given until June 30 to vacant the property.

The court was told they declined the offer of alternative accommodation.

The eviction order on anti-social behaviour grounds is the first one ever to be obtained by Mayo County Council.

A number of other similar court applications are pending.
