Mayo band signs five-year record deal with German label

Young Mayo band, Powder House, has signed a five-year recording deal with German label, FBP Music Group.

Their latest single, 'Years', to be released on April 22, proved the key to clinching the agreement, so impressed was the company with its quality.

The band will be on stage at the Ruby Room, Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on Friday, April 29, in a Finbar Hoban Presents promotion.

They will be supported on the night by Keith Plunkett and Band as well as Michael Oliver Sheridan.

Door open at 8.30 p.m. and the show gets underway at 9 p.m. sharp. Tickets are available online from Eventbrite.

Powder House (formerly The Dividing Range) is a three-piece Indie band, based in Castlebar.

The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist, Conor O’Shea, bassist Brian McHale, and drummer/percussionist Luke Dunne and formed in the summer of 2016 over a mutual love for music and a hunger and drive to gig.

Powder House have shared stages with acts such as Lisa Canny and most recently, acclaimed Irish singer songwriter David Keenan and the band have participated in various performances on both local and national stages.

Having released their well received and critically acclaimed debut EP “The Predecessor” in 2020, Powder House are back, their sound and identity refined and sharpened.

In the absence of live music during the pandemic the trio used the time to bring their artistry to a whole new level.

Now releasing the first of a series of new singles during 2022, a deeper, darker, more potent Powder House is ready to challenge among the heavyweights of the genre.

The latest single,'Years,' is a masterpiece in dynamics and atmosphere, rich in both its mellow intimate moments, dripping with emotion as Conor delivers his signature heart wrenching vocals, as well as it’s crashing indie rock guitar crescendos.

It was recorded, mixed and mastered at Beardfire Studio, Dublin, by veteran producer David Virgin and his sons Rohan and Al.

In their collective six decades in music they’ve worked in studio or on stage with the likes of Nick Cave, INXS, Cat Power, Billy Bragg, Leslie Dowdall and John Cooper Clark.
