Mayo student named Female Undergraduate of the Year

KATIE McNicholas, Balla, a past pupil of Craggagh National School and St. Louis Community School, Kiltimagh, has been named Female Undergraduate of the Year.

The GradIreland Undergraduate of the Year Awards were presented at a ceremony and reception in the Morrison Hotel, Dublin.

Katie studies International Business at the University of Limerick, and acted as International Business class representative in 2019/20. She was Team Lead of Enactus UL in 2021, and led Enactus UL to win the Enactus Ireland National Championship for the first time in the social enterprise society’s history.

She was a founding member of Anytime Of The Month, a charity organisation which completes donations of period products to homeless shelters and direct provision centres.

Katie has received two Gold UL President Volunteer Awards in recognition of the many hours of volunteering she completes during the academic year. She has also been formally commended by the President of UL on four occasions in recognition of the high grades she has maintained throughout her time in university.

The GradIreland Undergraduate of the Year Awards were set up to identify and celebrate Ireland’s best undergraduates. Each award is sponsored by a prominent graduate recruiter.

The Female Undergraduate of the Year award is sponsored by Diageo, who will provide mentorship to Katie as she completes the final years of her degree.
