Extension for south Mayo school to proceed to tender

MAYO Abbey National School, Claremorris, has been approved to proceed to tender for a school extension.

The extension will include an 80m2 mainstream classroom with ensuite and a WC for assisted users.

Deputy Michael Ring welcomed the announcement, highlighting: “Currently the school has to use the GP room as a classroom and this extra mainstream classroom is urgently required. This is very welcome news for the pupils and staff.”

Deputy Alan Dillon commented: “This is great news for the popular school. I wish principal Miriam Quinn, the board of management, staff and students every continued success for the future.”
