The new-look old Westport Road, Castlebar.

Fine new facilities in place outside Mayo hospital

Works have been completed on a number of new facilities for service users of Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.

Two new bus stops, linked by a pedestrian crossing, are now in place along the old Westport Road, within close proximity to the hospital's main entrance.

The footpaths have been upgraded while traffic calming measures have also been erected.

While it has reduced the number of car parking spaces at the location, there is a car park at the rear of the hospital to facilitate the public.

The work at old Westport Road was funded by Mayo County Council and greatly enhances the roadway.
