Query about replacing hedgerows following road works

THE replacement of hedgerows following road works such as the removal of bends or widening has been queried by a Mayo councillor.

A lot of chainlink fencing has gone up where bends have been removed, noted Councillor Ger Deere.

Mayo County Council has a biodiversity action plan, but, he asked, where a hedgerow is taken away, is there a policy to replace it.

There should be one, he said.
