Mayo get home draw in senior football qualifiers

Mayo will play Monaghan at home in the first round of the All-Ireland senior football championship qualifiers on June 4 at 4 p.m.

The draw was made today on the Morning Ireland show on RTÉ Radio 1, with Mayo the first name out of the hat.

Mayo's most recent game against Monaghan in Division 1 of the Allianz National Football League resulted in a narrow victory for James Horan's team in Clones.

Mayo went on to reach the league final, in which they were beaten by Kerry, before they lost to Galway in the Connacht SFC quarterfinal.

Monaghan, meanwhile, survived relegation in the league but were beaten by Derry in the Ulster championship.

Following this morning's draw, the other qualifier games are: Clare v Meath, Cork v Louth and Armagh v Tyrone (first team drawn has home advantage).

In the draw were the eight counties from Divisions 1 and 2 of the Allianz National Football League that did not qualify for their provincial finals.

The fixtures are scheduled to be played for weekend of June 4/5. The fixture details will be confirmed by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) in due course.
