World record attempt on Croagh Patrick

A WORLD record attempt is taking place on Croagh Patrick next month.

Ricki Wynne is planning to run up and down the holy mountain 15 times in 24 hours.

The challenge takes place on June 11 and Ricki is raising funds for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association as well as attempting to smash the world record for the most metres ascended and descended on foot in a 24-hour period.

The Leitrim man, who is no stranger to tackling mountains, has set up a fundraising page on idonate: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11431980_ricki-wynne-s-page.html.

He explained on his fundraising page: 'I am lucky enough to be able to push my body to its absolute limits and unfortunately there are people out there who can no longer do so. So I am doing this challenge to raise money in honour of all those people.

'I've chosen to fundraise for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. All funds raised here will go directly to this great cause.'

Ricki talks about the challenge on his Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/100065165632456/videos/592590041798086/
