One-way system proposed for Swinford road

MAYO County Council is to trial a one-way system on Station Road in Swinford.

The proposal is part of an overall plan for Circular Road and St. Ita’s Terrace in the town.

Councillor Michael Smyth, on his social media, explained how a part 8 planning application will be made later this year for a new car park and civic area.

If successful, the one-way system will be included in the plan.

As part of the public consultation process a trial will be operated for a two-week period, starting on June 13.

Residents and road users will have an opportunity to express their views at a public forum.

It will hopefully alleviate congestion and road safety concerns at the local national school.

Traffic will flow from Market Street, past the school, and out onto lower Main Street.
