New uses for former Mayo courthouse being explored

MAYO County Council is looking at possible options for the future use of the old courthouse in Westport.

The local authority is seeking expressions of interest from suitable organisations that may be interested in entering a lease of the building, which has been vacant for a number of years now.

The council wants to gather information and determine potential demand for the building.

Proposals where future use provides a community, cultural, heritage or tourism benefit to Westport and the wider municipal district are encouraged, however all proposals for the building are welcomed at this stage.

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday, June 24, at 5 p.m.
