Rathbawn is 'the forgotten road of Castlebar'

THE condition of the footpaths and public lighting in the Rathbawn area of Castlebar have again been raised at municipal district level.

On the left side going out the road the paths are in a poor state, said Councillor Ger Deere.

He described the lighting as 'antiquated', with old poles, old lights, and it was very dark.

The Rathbawn Road, he said, is the 'forgotten road of Castlebar'.

Some funding has been allocated to the area and it is hoped to apply for more, he was told.

The area is used a lot by school children and other pedestrians.
