Over €290k awarded to 178 Mayo community projects
Funding of €290,154 is being allocated to 178 projects in Mayo under the 2021 Communities Fund.
The key theme of the fund is to support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, with their running costs such as utility or insurance bills, as well as with improvements to their facilities.
The Community Activities Fund is a once off fund provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development and administered by Local Community Development Committees, with support from the Local Authority, in each area.

Welcoming the allocation, Deputy Michael Ring said: “Community Centres are at the heart of every community, in both rural and urban areas.
"These places are vital for people to meet up, play sport, and engage in all sorts of activities. This funding will help to support them to carry out vital upgrade works as well as enhance the services and amenities they can provide to the people in the community.
“I would like to congratulate the successful projects and to thank them for the work they carry out in our communities,” concluded Deputy Ring.
