Popular Mayo business closing its doors

A family-owned business in the county town will be closing its doors for the final time this month.

The Connaught Inn, located on Spencer Street in Castlebar, will shut this Monday, June 27, with a leaving party planned for this Saturday night.

The 18th century building offers modern facilities with various room types, all of which are en-suite, three fully furnished self-catering apartments on-site and a large car park to the rear.

Manager Lee Walmsley, who had run The Connaught Inn for the past eight and a half years, said she was stepping away for personal reasons.

It may not be closed for very long, however, as Kevin Beirne Auctioneers have successfully concluded the sale of the popular bar, lounge, Bed and Breakfast and apartments.

Kevin said once he put the property on the market, it attracted huge interest from all over.
