Mayo rugby club announces details of exciting fundraiser

Ballina RFC, in partnership with Mount Falcon Estate, has announced a Galway Race Day Gala to be held on Friday, July 29.

The exciting event will take place in Mount Falcon and has already been billed as the social evening of the summer.

The event will be a major fundraiser for Ballina RFC and the club’s chairman, Alan Rowe, said everyone was delighted to be partnering with Mount Falcon to benefit the local community.

“We’re a very progressive, community-based, inclusive club fuelled by high energy and good people. Mount Falcon is an ideal partner for us because the entire estate mirrors our standards perfectly.

“On Friday, July 29, we will have a wonderful event with family, friends and supporters where we gather to enjoy a Galway Races experience with a difference. We will mirror the fun, glamour and excitement of Ballybrit while dining and enjoying top-class entertainment on the banks of the Moy.”

The event will raise funds for the continued development of facilities at the club, where a new 4G pitch has been completed while new car-parking and female changing facilities are currently being constructed. Ballina RFC currently has more than 900 members, with flourishing numbers at all levels, particularly the mini rugby and female sections of the club.

Alan Maloney, owner of Mount Falcon, commented: “We are delighted to sponsor this prestigious fundraising event for our local dynamic and progressive rugby club.

“Apart from its sporting prowess, the club fulfils a crucial role in the development of our youth and its fundamental virtues are those that we share.

“I cannot think of a more enjoyable way to celebrate this collaboration than an evening of fun and frolics while enjoying the thrills and spills of the Galway Races on our own doorstep.”

An integral part of the big day will be the inaugural Best Dressed Ladies and Best Dressed Gentleman competitions for some mouthwatering prizes.

The club chairman, Alan Rowe, believes this will add even more glamour to the exciting event.

“We have always been noted a very glamorous club and now is the opportunity to show the world how fashion-conscious and colourful we truly are!” he joked.
