Betting suspended on Mayo GAA managerial vacancy

Betting has been suspended on who will be the next manager of the Mayo senior football squad, BoyleSports has confirmed to The Connaught Telegraph.

It is understood the decision was taken due to a flood of bets on one of the leading candidates.

A spokesperson explained that is usually one of the reasons why betting is be suspended on particular categories from time to time.

The news comes amid reports punters have been showing considerable interest on the prospects of Knockmore manager Ray Dempsey getting the job.

Dempsey had been listed at 2/1 to succeed James Horan when the odds were last published by BoyleSports a number of days ago.

He was, at that stage, second favourite behind Mick Solan on 4/7 with Kevin McStay at 9/2 and Kieran McDonald 10/1, the other listed leading contenders.

However, the appointment process is still at an early stage as applications remain open until 6 p.m. on July 29.
