Death of former Mayo golf star Eileen O'Boyle is deeply regretted

The death has occurred of Eileen O’Boyle (neé Clarke) Pontoon Road, and late of Manulla, Castlebar.

She died peacefully at her residence yesterday surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Kathleen and John T. Clarke, husband Tommie, son Padraig and sisters Margaret, Florrie and Kathleen, she is deeply regretted by her loving family: daughters Sharon, Eilish and Eleanor Jennings, brothers Jackie and Tommy, sons-in-law Fermín and Gerry, grandchildren Ciara and Anna, nephews, nieces, relatives, dear friends and neighbours.

Deepest sympathy is tendered to the bereaved family on their loss.

A retired psychiatric nurse who gave sterling service to the community, Eileen was an accomplished golfer - a former Connacht champion - and a proud member of Castlebar Golf Club.

She served as Lady Captain for a term and also represented the club in many national competitions over the years, such was her prowess in the sport.

Eileen was also an outstanding camogie player in her youth.

Her remains will be reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home on Friday evening at 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to her residence.

Removal from her residence takes place on Saturday morning at 10.45 a.m. for Funeral Mass at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with removal to her residence afterwards.

Cremation Ceremony will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Shannon Crematorium.
