Bank holiday official opening of Mayo's Butterfly Garden

A SPECIAL garden remembering children taken from the world too soon will be officially opened in Swinford next month.

The official opening celebration of The Butterfly Garden will take place at Brabazon Woods and playground at 2 p.m. on bank holiday Monday, August 1.

The Butterfly Garden is a community project started by a group of bereaved parents in Swinford to create a memorial garden that brings comfort to bereaved families who have faced miscarriages, stillbirth, infant and child deaths, to know you're not alone in a time that can feel very lonely.

They wanted to create a hopeful space showing love for the little lives taken too soon.

The project started in July 2020 with an initial meeting and has received massive community support in bringing it to fruition.

The garden committee's hope is that parents who sadly face miscarriages, stillbirths, neonatal and child loss will feel less alone knowing there is a place they can go and a group that will always remember your little one with you.
