Bed shortage crisis at Mayo hospital despite sharp drop in Covid cases

Mayo University Hospital is dealing with a bed shortage crisis despite a significant drop in Covid cases at the facility.

The HSE has confirmed there are no available general or ICU beds at the Castlebar centre.

Only two other hospitals in the country are in a similar position in respect of the lack of vacant general beds, namely Navan and St. Vincent's.

There are 18 Covid positive cases in care at the Castlebar facility today and two suspected cases.
