Work progressing on Ballina by-pass plan

THE N26/N59 Ballina by-pass is at phase 2 route option stage, with a preferred route to be identified in Q4 2022.

Construction works on the new N26 Cloongullane bridge between Swinford and Foxford are to be completed this month.

The news was confirmed in an update on roads schemes in the county circulated for Mayo County Council's July meeting,

In other works across the county, under the HD28 Pavement Renewal Programme, 11 schemes are to go to tender in July/August. The contract value is €1,000,000.

Design work is proceeding on a public lighting energy efficiency project with the tender published in June.

Agreement has been reached with the Department of Transport to proceed with repair works to Achill Sound Bridge.

A tender has been published for the appointment of consultants to progress the R345 Cong relief road.

A tender has also been published for a road widening scheme on the N84 north of Shrule.
