Passing of retired Mayo County Council staff member Perry O'Reilly

Tributes are being paid to Perry O'Reilly, Carrabawn, Westport, whose death has taken place.

A retired member of the staff of Mayo County Council, he was a prominent member of Westport Golf Club and represented the club in numerous competitions over the years.

Perry was also an accomplished snooker and billiards player, winning many titles at the former Town Hall club.

Local Councillor Brendan Mulroy said the town had lost a much-loved and respected personality.

"He was a pure gentleman who was held in very high regard in the community at large.

"I extend my deepest sympathy to the O'Reilly family on their loss," he added.

Perry is sadly missed by his loving wife Anne, son Liam, daughters Vera, Karen and Dee, sister Ruth, grandchildren Aideen, Ciaran, Dermot and Amy, son-in-law Danny, daughter-in-law Reka, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

He will be reposing in his residence this evening (Wednesday) from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral will arrive at St. Mary's Church, Westport, tomorrow (Thursday) at 10.30 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11 am.

Interment takes place afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
