Popular walking/cycling route in west Mayo reopens

A POPULAR walking and cycling route for locals and tourists in west Mayo has reopened.

The Sheffrey Pass (Rocky Road) between Delphi and Drummin closed earlier this summer after a roadside protection wall collapsed.

Councillor Peter Flynn confirmed this morning that the route is now open to the public again.

He commented: “This is also part of the magnificent Western Way so there will also be a lot of happy walkers and cyclists.

“Some walls still need to be completed and the road tarred but the most difficult part of the work is complete.”
