Mourners carrying coffin into Mayo church 'in danger of falling'

A dropped kerb is needed on the footpath outside the Church of the Holy Rosary in Castlebar in order to facilitate funerals.

It is being sought by Councillor Blackie Gavin, who said the feature, to aid accessibility, is badly needed.

The issue was previously raised by Councillor Ger Deere who said there is a danger of mourners falling while carrying a coffin into the church.

Councillor Gavin has also highlighted an issue with a gulley in the Chapel Street area, which consistently blocks up.

And there's another outside the presbytery which he noticed during a funeral, saying it looks like it's blocked with concrete over it.
