Plans in place to renovate Mayo intensive care unit

Plans have been put in place to renovate the intensive care unit at Mayo University Hospital.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that the works are to be incorporated into the overall hospital development control plan.

"Preparatory work is currently underway for the implementation of a clinical IT system for the ICU," he added.

A shortage of beds in the facility has become a significant issue in recent years at the Castlebar centre.
