Three inter-provincial rugby matches at Mayo venue

The newly revamped Heffernan Park in Ballina – home of Ballina RFC – will host three inter-provincial matches between Connacht and Ulster this Sunday (August 7), as announced on the club's website this week.

The day kicks off at noon with an Under 18 girls contest between the provinces, with a number of Ballina RFC players expected to wear the green of Connacht on the day.

The second match starts at 2 p.m. and features the Emerging Talent women's teams from both provinces in what should be another exciting contest.

The final match, kicking-off at 4 p.m., is the big one as the Connacht senior ladies take on their Ulster counterparts. Ballina will also have representation on the pitch, and everyone involved with the club is really looking forward to this.

Ballina RFC commented: “The progress and development of female rugby in Connacht is one of the sporting success stories of the past decade, and Ballina has been at the forefront of this.

"On Sunday, we all have the opportunity to come along and see three top class matches on our home turf – for free – so make your plans now, bring a friend, bring the family and tell the world. See you there.”
