Coast Guard come to rescue of dog who fell in Achill

ACHILL Island Coast Guard came to the rescue of a dog who fell after his lead snapped yesterday afternoon.

'Barry' had been hiking with his owners close to Croaghaun cliffs north of Corrymore in Achill.

The search and rescue team were tasked to rescue him after his lead snapped and he fell.

Two hours after the pager rang Barry was safely back with his owners, uninjured and just little shook but enjoying all the attention, the Coast Guard reported on Facebook.

They issued the following advice: It’s not uncommon for animals to end up on the wrong side of a cliff face and should this happens never attempt a rescue yourself. Stay safe by dialling 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard.
