US Ambassador visiting Mayo

THE US Ambassador to Ireland, Claire Cronin, is enjoying a visit to Mayo this week.

Ms. Cronin learned how to pull a pint in Rouse's pub in Ballina and has also met with members of the Blewitt family, cousins of President Joe Biden.

Ambassador Cronin has been sharing photos from her visit on her twitter page.

She visited Aras an Chondae, headquarters of Mayo County Council, in Castlebar where she was warmly welcomed to the county by the cathaoirleach, Councillor Seamus Weir. During the visit she was delighted to be made an honorary Mayo person.

A meeting to discuss mutual and common interests, including trade and investment, diaspora engagement, twinning and tourism, also took place.

Members of the Blewitt family, including newlyweds Laurita Blewitt and Joe Brolly, met with the Ambassador at Mount Falcon.

This morning's itinerary has included a visit to Rouse’s bar where she was welcomed by Pat and Mary Rouse and their daughter Fiona. The pub received the Ambassador's seal of approval - 'highly recommended'.

She also noted how the back wall of the premises was built by the ancestors of President Biden.

Ambassador Cronin has also visited Ballina Beverages to see where much of the world’s Coca Cola is made. She received a tour of the facility and met with the leadership team.
