Photographers invited to join unique outdoor challenge in Mayo

CALLING all amateur photographers!

You are invited to join an outdoor photography challenge featuring the skillful skateboarders from Mayo Rollers, a branch of Castlebar Skate Club.

Skateboarders will demonstrate the control and techniques honed to control their boards through various tricks. In this unique setting, audiences are invited to snap creatively, capturing the colour, movement and community of place.

A selection of the photographs curated by the Mayo Rollers and the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar will be printed in The Connaught Telegraph and displayed in the Linenhall print gallery in 2023.

So grab your camera or your smartphone and join the skaters from 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, at Market Square in Castlebar.

This is a free event and all are welcome.

Visiting Castlebar? Why not pop into GUIDES visual arts exhibition at the Linenhall Arts Centre. In the Tourist Office you will find art works selected by Mayo Rollers and a video screening all about the group.

GUIDES, curated by Séamus Nolan, curator-in-residence at the Linenhall, was devised in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Arts Council Collection. Art works of national significance have been selected to tell the stories of communities across Mayo.
