West Mayo GAA Club pays tribute to local personality on his passing

The death has occurred of Terry Joe Dever, Saula West, Achill Sound.

He died peacefully at his home yesterday surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his sisters Bridgie Ann Cafferkey and Marie McGreal and grandson Kevin Kilbane, he will be sadly missed by his loving wife Nora, sons Kevin, Stephen and Gerald, daughters Helen, Veronica, Maureen, Rosaleen and Margo-Ann, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Maureen (Grealis), Betty Molloy (Doonover) and Bridie Joyce (Manchester) and brother-in-law Thomas Mc Hugh (London).

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

In a tribute to him, Achill GAA Club said it was with deep sadness club members learned of Terry Joe's passing.

The tribute continued: "Terry Joe always had time to exchange a few words. His presence will be greatly missed.

"Terry Joe’s grandson Gearóid is a member of Achill Under 16s. His other grandsons, including the late Kevin Kilbane, have been loyal and committed members of CLG Acla over the years.

"His grandsons Brian, Rónán and Terence are currently involved with the men’s team.

"Sincere condolences to Terry Joe’s wife Nora, his daughters Helen (Kilbane), Veronica (Lavelle), Maureen (Gavin), Rosaleen (Fallon) and Margo (Gallagher) and to his sons Kevin, Stephen and Gerald, and their spouses.

"Sympathy also to his much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the wider family, neighbours and friends.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal."

Remains will be reposing at Lavelle's Funeral Home, Cashel, Achill, on Wednesday from 5 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to Church of Mary Immaculate, Achill Sound, arriving at 7.30pm.

Requiem Mass takes place on Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by burial in the New Cemetery, Polranny.
