Taller mast approved to boost coverage in Mayo town

EIR has been given the green light to replace a 20-metre telecommunications monopole with a 24-metre high telecommunications lattice structure at its exchange in Churchfield, Knock.

The new structure will address the company's requirement to significantly improve current and emerging technologies and services in Knock.

It will also ensure high-quality infrastructure which is critical for the emergency services (ambulance, gardaí and fire services), which currently transmit from the existing structure.

Eir said the existing coverage is inadequate and the taller more versatile lattice structure would accommodate more operators and achieve the required 4G coverage.
