Mayo food producer expanding its operations

Castlebar Butler Foods is expanding its operations.

The company, who operate at the Golden Mile Industrial Estate on the Breaffy Road, have had expansion plans approved by Mayo County Council.

The existing production facility is to be amalgamated with an adjoining unit, which is currently vacant, to facilitate the business's expansion.

Documentation submitted to planners set out how the company's main customer is Dunnes Stores, and they also supply a range of independent retail outlets as well as a number of SuperValu supermarkets nationwide.

Currently, Butler Foods are at maximum production and storage capacity and are not in a position to take on new business or introduce new products onto the maarket.

A new state of the art production facility would alleviate that situation, taking on new business and creating new jobs.

Butlers have identified a number of salad and dessert products they could bring to market straight away with a bigger factory.

They have also been approached by both Lidl and Aldi to supply them with produce under their brand.

The company currently employs 13 staff and has seen steady growth over the past years.
