Mayo club's AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield run comes to an end

Ballinrobe Golf Club's great run in the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield came to an end at Slieve Russell yesterday (Thursday).

The Mayo club lost out to Clontarf 3-2, who are joined in today's semi-finals by East Cork, Killymoon and Coollattin.

The result of yesterday's quarterfinal was (Clontarf names first): Conor Joseph O’Brien & Patrick Dunne lost to Niall Staunton & Ray Darcy 3&2, Matt O’Donnell & Sean Kellett lost to Sean Quirke & Aled Roberts 3&2, Dara O’Brien & Michael Kellett beat Michael McManamon & Alan Jennings 2&1, Philip Duffy & Rowan Considine beat Daniel Merrigan & Tony O’Toole 5&4, Derek D’Arcy & John Stone beat Christopher Mellett & James Connolly 3&2.

Meanwhile, Westport's conquerors in the AIG Minor Cup on Wednesday, Ardee, lost out to Greenacres in the semi-final yesterday.

Rockmount's victory over Cill Dara in the other semi-final means today's decider is an all-Ulster affair.
