World GO Day being marked by Mayo beach swim

World Gynaecological Oncology (GO) Day is being marked tomorrow (Tuesday) with over 30 swims taking place across the country to help raise awareness of the symptoms and signs of uterine cancer.

One of them is taking place at Old Head, Louisburgh, at 8 a.m.

New research commissioned by the Irish Network for Gynaecological Oncology (INGO) has revealed that one in four women are not aware of uterine cancer and while 60% of women in Ireland are aware, they cannot name any of the signs or symptoms of this type of cancer.

To help raise awareness of this cancer and its symptoms, people are encouraged to get out and be active by swimming for World GO Day.
