Mayo rates revaluation letters issuing to businesses

RATES revaluation letters will be going out to 4,800 businesses in Mayo this month.

Business owners have been urged to check the letters they receive.

Councillor Michael Loftus told a meeting of Mayo County Council there are supposed to be walk-in meetings for anyone who has an issue with their rates.

It is important that people check and that they know they have 40 days in which to appeal, he said.

Councillor Michael Burke encouraged people not to be afraid about appealing as there is a good success rate.
