Proposal for 60 apartments in Claremorris

A PROPOSAL to build 60 apartments in Claremorris is before Mayo County Council for planning approval.

The development is planned for Kilcolman Road in Claremorris.

Developer Harold Conway has applied for permission for the construction of a housing development of 60 apartments in two five-storey buildings.

Pedestrian and vehicular access to Kilcolman Road (extending existing partially constructed access road serving the new Lidl store) and pedestrian/cycle access via an access way to the Ballyhaunis Road are included in the proposal.

Other work include cycle and car parking, bin stores, public and private amenity and open spaces.

A traffic and transport report on the proposal sets out how this presents as a development where residents will be facilitated to have a lifestyle that has a low dependency on car ownership.

For example, retail, food, creche, medical, leisure and sports facilities are within walking distance of the site, as are schools and public transport. There will be bicycle parking within the development, with plans also for car club provision.
