Mayo-based ALDI producers win at Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards

ALDI continued its winning streak at this year’s Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards, winning a total of 71 awards.

Four of its award-winning products were produced by suppliers from Co. Mayo, including CPAC Foods’ Specially Selected Extra Buttery Toffee Popcorn (silver award) and three products from O'Hara's Bakery - ALDI Vintage Christmas Cake (bronze award), Specially Selected Caramel and Toffee Split Cake and ALDI’s Crusty Pan, both awarded bronze.

The awards were announced at a ceremony held at the Mansion House, Dublin, with ALDI taking home 20 gold, 26 silver and 25 bronze awards for products from across its core range and award-winning Specially Selected range.

The awards celebrate and reward the finest food and drink products on Irish shelves with each product subjected to a rigorous and stringent judging process and evaluated by an independent panel of expert judges. Products are assessed on the basis of taste, provenance, value for money and innovation.

Speaking about this year’s success, John Curtin, group buying director for Aldi Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to once again have products from both our seasonal and core range receive a seal of approval from the Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards.

“The awards celebrate the best of Irish food and drinks and to have so many products decorated this year is a testament to their quality and to the impressive network of Irish producers and suppliers we work with all year round. We are proud to offer our Irish customers such a diverse range of home-grown products at great value and affordable price points.”
