Mayo native gets Cycling Connacht award

Former cycling correspondent with The Mayo News and editor of the world-famous Cycling Weekly magazine, Martin Ayres, was recently inducted into Cycling Connacht’s Hall of Fame to mark his contribution to promoting cycling in the region and his lifetime of love for the sport.

Martin’s dedication to the sport inspired many to take up cycling and his boundless enthusiasm was a huge asset to the community.

Along with his wife, Mary, Martin is returning to England after spending many years living in Westport and Cycling Connacht were really pleased to be able to present the Hall of Fame award to him prior to his departure.
