'Dangerously low amount of lighting' at Mayo quay location

BALLINA Municipal District has been urged to install new LED lighting at the Kennedy Glasgow Centre, The Quay.

This would address the 'dangerously low amount of lighting' on a council owned site, Councillor Mark Duffy stated.

The response to the notice of motion by Councillor Duffy indicated Mayo County Council will inspect the lighting and report on the situation.

The response continued: “New public realm works are integral to the Quay regeneration project, which is hoped to avail of URDF funding in the next application phase.”

The cathaoirleach received backing from his fellow councillors, with the point being made that LED lighting would pay for itself in relatively short order. Meanwhile, with regard to the regeneration project, the meeting was told that consultant engagements meetings have been held and a 'masterplan' brief is being developed.
