Carers in Mayo to receive €500 payment this week

Mayo-based Senator Lisa Chambers has welcomed the €500 lump sum payment which will be paid this week to support over 3,554 carers in Mayo. The €500 payment will be received in carers' bank accounts on Thursday.

Speaking on the matter, Senator Chambers said: “I am delighted to see that 3,554 carers in Mayo and their families will receive a €500 lump sum payment this week to support them with the cost of living.

“The payment is being made automatically to people receiving a Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance payment.

“Those who received the annual Carer's Support Grant in June who have confirmed that they are still caring will also receive the €500 lump sum payment.”

Senator Chambers added: “Carers in Ireland play a vital role in our society and in our local communities. It is important that as a government we support them in every possible way we can.

“I hope that this €500 lump sum payment will help alleviate to some extent the added pressure placed on carers due to the cost of living crisis.”
