Hundreds expected to attend ATU Mayo open day

ATLANTIC Technological University (ATU) Mayo is holding an open day on Wednesday, December 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., for all secondary school students as well as parents, teachers and mature applicants about programmes and student life in the university.

The campus delivers courses in Nursing, Health Science and Integrated Care, and Environmental Humanities and Social Sciences such as the B.Sc. (Hon) in General Nursing, B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychiatric Nursing and BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Care, BA (Hons) in Applied Social Care, BA (Hons) in Outdoor Education, BA (Hons) in History and Geography, BA (Hons) in Geography and Outdoor Education and BA in Contemporary Art Practices

A series of talks will take place on topics such as student finance and supports, including SUSI information, access options from ATU’s disability and learning support service and access and participation office, introductory sessions on all courses, student clubs, societies and sporting activities.

Dr. Justin Kerr, vice-president, ATU Mayo, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming you all on to our campus here in Castlebar. With the 2023 CAO application opening on November 4 , this is a perfect opportunity to begin in-person research.

“This open morning will provide a great opportunity to learn about the CAO process and CAO programmes, as well as financial supports and university life. There will be regular tours of the campus and the facilities by our fantastic student ambassadors who will give a flavour of what it is like to be a student in ATU.”

There will be demonstrations in the nursing clinical skills labs, early childhood education and care studio, simulation suite, contemporary art studio, outdoor education indoor climbing wall and others. there will also be interactive student led stands offering interesting workshops related to ATU Mayo courses. A warm hot chocolate and marshmallows toasted on the fire pits by outdoor education students will add to the festive cheer.
