Art@ATU exhibition launched at Atlantic Technological University Mayo

THE Art@ATU exhibition has been launched at the Atlantic Technological University Mayo campus.

ATU Mayo and Mayo County Council Arts Service are jointly hosting Art@ATU, a contemporary art exhibition of artworks from the Mayo County Council art collection.

The exhibition is an introduction to contemporary art for a youth audience as part of Excel, Mayo County Council’s Youth Art Programme. The exhibition was curated by third year students on the ATU Mayo BA in Contemporary Arts Practices in collaboration with Mayo County Council’s Arts Service and ATU Mayo BA in Contemporary Art Practices lecturers Dr. John Mulloy, Hazel Walker and Denis Farrell.

John McHugh, manager, Custom House Studio and Gallery, officially launched the exhibition and gave an interesting insight into the artworks and artists featured.

The artworks will be on display during the university’s open day on December 7, which will be attended by secondary schools and youth in the region. The exhibition aims to provide pupils with an introduction to contemporary artwork. There will be guided tours of the exhibition ongoing on the day and two free workshops for secondary schools attending the open day

The exhibition is open to the public until December 13 during ATU Mayo campus hours, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
