Shower pipe connection sought at popular Mayo swimming spot

A WESTPORT councillor is seeking a pipe connection to provide a cold water shower for swimmers at popular local bathing spot the Point.

Councillor Peter Flynn put in a request to Irish Water in early summer, to bring a connection from across the nearby factory wall.

Why, he asked at a local municipal district meeting, could they not get a price from Irish Water to connect five months on.

Mayo County Council have costed the actual shower, district head Padraic Walsh told him.

They are awaiting the new connections team in Irish Water to come forward with a pipeline, and also how the quantity of water used will be charged for.

Councillor Flynn said they were looking for one simple connection, with 100 metres of pipe, and could not get a price.

Mr. Walsh said they were not aware where the connection will be taken from. It has to be from a suitable point.
